New Hampshire has no statewide short-term rental law — regulation happens town by town. Some towns simply require a state tax license; others require local registration, inspections, or restrict STRs to owner-occupied homes. Before you list, it’s worth knowing exactly where your town stands.

The NH Meals & Rentals Tax applies to every STR

Every short-term rental operator in New Hampshire must hold a Meals & Rentals Tax license and remit the 8.5% tax on rental income to the NH Department of Revenue Administration — regardless of town rules. Lodgism registers, collects, and files this for every property we manage.
